What is a mother to do?

It was a busy, yet anticipated TGIF Thank God It's Friday!) for me.  My son just left for his second senior prom of the year.  He is accompanying a neighbor and long time friend.  This is expected to be a fun filled night for him.  He wore a black tux with komabon, formal tie, the works.  He went to the barber shop and got his hair cut about two days ago.  His dad ironed his shirt.  My son picked out the clothes he would wear to the movies and late night dinner.  My husband took all the pictures.... all fifty of them.  What was it for me to do?  The mother?  I just stood by and watched.  I was proud but there was little for me to do.  That's when it started becoming more real that he is moving more and more into manhood.  Isn't that what all mothers want of their boys?  YES!  But I missed my "baby boy."   The one that used to ask how do I look, do you like my hair cut, are you going to be up when I get back, etc.   He is growing up!  Becoming a man!  AND I LIKE THAT VERY MUCH!

How Many Hats Are You Wearing?

Oh man!  It was a long Monday.  So long until it seemed like Friday by 12 noon.  My mama never told me there would be days like this!   I get up around around 5:30 and it is all in full speed from there.  Even though I have teenage boys, it still seems like I have to do a lot for them and remind them constantly of things.  By 7:20am I have taken my son to school and I am parking my car in the parking lot at work.  Up the hill I go, into my building.  My work hours are 8am to 5pm, but it never fails that the phone starts ringing around 7:50am and sometimes I forget and answer it.  I work at a university and there are over 500 students in our department.  All day its can you do this, will you do this, what do you thing about this, will you all offer this, who should I talk to about this, and the list goes on and on.  Now don't get me wrong I like my underpaid job, but when did I get that hat.

My son looked up Mama for me because I wasn't certain whether it was spelled momma or mama.  He came across an organization named "Mothers Against Misuse and Abuse (MAMA)."  Its goal is to promote better communication regarding the protection of kids and the development of drug policies.   I think that definition can apply to me many days.....misuse  and abuse.    How many hats can one woman wear?    Can someone help me with this answer?   Let me start the list:  mother, cook, maid, nourisher, driver, referee, barber, nail technician, psychologist, waiter, .........

Welcome to Things Women Desire

Hello!  This title has been on my heart for quite some time.  I guess mainly because I am a woman and I listen to a lot of women talk about their desires.  These desires can be about their personal life, finances, love relationships, family, religious beliefs, etc.  A lot of times they are very different woman to woman and culturally, but many things are common across the board.  I welcome the opportunity to have a dialogue about different interests from all age groups (18 and older).
